Career Coaches provide support for adults with developmental disabilities in competitive work settings as well as provide supplemental training to both the employers and clients. They provide appropriate programming based upon the clients goals and objectives. Once a job is obtained, a career coach assists clients to learn job responsibilities, the culture and values of the work environment, job accommodations and explaining how employment affects their benefits. Supported Employment serves adults age 18 and older who are diagnosed with a developmental and/or intellectual disability within Polk and surrounding counties.

The wage for this position starts at $16.25 an hour and increases to $16.50 an hour upon completion of a successful 90 day orientation period. A reliable vehicle is necessary as applicants would be driving during the course of their job duties and must be insurable under our company policy. This position does require applicants to have a flexible schedule, with night and weekend availability, as their duties would be based on and around clients needs. We currently are offering a sign on bouns of $500 after a successful 90-day orientation period and $1,000 after 6 months with successful onboarding and orientation requirements are met.

Application process consists of first phone interview with our Recruitment and Talent Development Coordinator and 2nd Interview with a Department Specific Team Leader.

Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience, preferably in human services, sociology, psychology, education, human resources, marketing, sales or business.

• Ability to pass the Nationally Recognized Employment Support Professional Certification - APSE's Certified Employment Support Professionals (CESP) Exam

• On-going continuing education of 4 hours yearly in Employment Services -has 24 months from the date of hire to meet the educational requirements and earn the professional certification required.

• Ability to work in a team environment.

• Ability to communicate effectively in written or verbal formats

• Ability to make cold calls and be self-motivated.

• Ability to operate a computer and navigate through Easter Seals database. Experience in word processing software; Word and Excel preferred

• Ability to work with a variety of people, with and without disabilities

• Ability to bend, stoop, twist and lift

• Ability to transfer or move a minimum of 80 pounds.

• Have reliable transportation for work-related travel.

• Insurable under Easter Seals vehicle insurance policy

• Certified in CPR, First Aid

• Ability to successfully complete Mandatory Reporter training within first 30 days.

• Ability to work non-traditional hours as required, including weekends and evenings.

• Access to telephone for on-call system
