Founded in 2011, Highways & Skyways Transportation is a privately owned & operated full-service Transportation Management Company providing a wide range of services including Dry Van, Reefer, Flatbed, Expedited, LTL, Air, Intermodal, Dray, and Brokerage. Based in Gastonia, NC, we operate over 50 tractor-trailers in addition to our Brokerage Operations.

Freight Broker Pay

• Competitive Salary (Based on Experience)

Freight Broker Responsibilities

• Building reliable business relationships with trustworthy and safe freight Carriers.
• Assist in onboarding, retaining, and managing Carrier relationships .
• Maintain accurate and updated Customer and Carrier information.
• Providing Customers with shipping quotes.
• Booking orders with Carriers.
• Assisting in preparing Carriers for loads.
• Tracking status of loads.
• Collaborating with Shippers, Carriers, and Dispatchers to manage scheduled collections and drop-offs.
• Able to keep accurate records of relevant activities.
• Updating Customers on the status of shipments and assisting with other inquiries.
• Maintaining current knowledge of market trends in transportation marketplace.

Freight Broker Qualifications/Requirements

• Resilient - A positive attitude and mentality that will help negotiate the toughest of scenarios with Carriers and Customers while working with multiple departments.
• Adaptable - The work environment is evolving daily; we need somebody that can take change in stride and adapt on the fly.
• Team Attitude - The candidate should be open to feedback and be able to collaborate effectively with other team members to further success.
• Goal Oriented - The candidate should have a winning attitude while taking pride in accomplishing all our objectives.

· Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to solve problems quickly and effectively.

• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Outstanding people skills.
• Proficient negotiating skills.
• Demonstrated ability to meet sales targets.
• High school diploma, GED, or suitable equivalent.
• 2+ years of work experience in the freight industry.

· Work in out Gastonia, NC office, 8:00AM - 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday.

• Established book of business preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suites.
