Please visit the link below for information about the selection process and its duration Who we are and what we do: The mission of the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security is to serve, secure, and protect the people of Tennessee. The department is responsible for ensuring the safety and general welfare of the public through the operations of its four primary divisions: Tennessee Highway Patrol, Driver Services, Tennessee Highway Safety Office, and Office of Homeland Security. Headquartered in Nashville, the department maintains a presence statewide with approximately 2,000 employees working across the state. Job Overview: The Homeland Security Grants Administrator is responsible for the administration, oversight, and monitoring of grant programs within the Office of Homeland Security, to include a $140,000,000 grant designed to promote school security and safety by placing a School Resource Officer (SRO) in every public school in Tennessee. The administrator may be responsible for developing future grant program guidelines, determining the requirements for recipients, and ensuring compliance is monitored. This position reports to the Director of Special Programs in the Office of Homeland Security. While this position may be eligible for Alternative Workplace Solutions, the incumbent must be available to work onsite as required, up to 4 to 5 days per week. This position may require occasional statewide travel or work after-hours. Key Responsibilities: Specific responsibilities include: Ensure compliance with the rules and regulations of the grant; oversee special audits conducted by the Department and the State Comptroller Perform functions of financial administration and reporting including required reports to the Governor's office and the General Assembly Serve as a liaison with law enforcement agencies, the TN Department of Education, and others on issues regarding grants Assist in evaluating the fiscal administration of grant programs Oversee the preparation and timely submission of grant applications Assist in creating and maintaining a grant manual for procedures and policies Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university. Experience equivalent to four years of full-time increasingly responsible professional planning and analytic work, including at least one year supervisory experience. Excellent writing skills, math skills and computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Excel, and Access database. Knowledge of grants, grant budget documents, determining allowable and unallowable costs and grant writing is preferred. Experience in the field of criminal justice is preferred.
