Description
Reports directly to: Performing Arts Center Director
Performing Arts Center (PAC) Technicians assist in the setup, execution, and closing of events held in the MHS Performing Arts Center and assist in the ongoing upkeep and upgrade schedule of the Performing Arts Center.
Essential Functions:
- Setup and closing of staging and show elements including platforms, tables, performer chairs, music stands.
- Setup, operation, and closing of technical elements including microphones, lighting fixtures, and video equipment.
- Operation of Lighting and Sound control equipment necessary for PAC events. Including basic preset-based touchscreen operations as well as full console control of lighting and sound when necessary.
- Operate presentation software such as, but not limited to, Google Slides, Powerpoint, and Qlab.
- Work with the PAC Supervisor to facilitate client needs in the lobby, box office, and green room spaces.
- Assist in the ongoing maintenance and upkeep of PAC spaces.
- Other industry/venue-relevant duties as assigned by the PAC Director.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse age levels and community groups.
- Demonstrated industry-level knowledge in at least one of the following: stage lighting, sound reinforcement, and/or staging and rigging; as well as a willingness to be trained on a specific technology to the PAC.
- Bilingual - Spanish/English preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to make reasonable independent judgments and decisions in a show environment.
- Ability to cooperate and collaborate in a team-based work environment.
- Ability to maintain and enforce facility standards, safety procedures, and event guidelines.
- Knowledge of lighting, sound, and manual rigging of elements of theatrical event production.
- Konwledge and ability to set up and operate technical equipment. (Training Provided)
- Communicate effectively with staff, students, parents, and other district residents.
- Work under specific instructions independently with attention to detail.
- Ability to handle stressful situations with discretion, accuracy, and clarity.
Working Conditions:
- This job performed indoors. Portions of this job are occasionally performed at heights of up to 50'. This job is occasionally performed in areas with dust and sawdust.
Physical/Mental Requirements:
This job is classified as medium work with frequent sitting, walking/moving throughout the work site, working at heights, bending/stopping, squatting/crouching. There is occasional standing, climbing, reaching, kneeling, pushing, and pulling exerting forces up to 20-30 pounds.
- Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods, up to 6 hours in an eight-hour day.
- Must be able to perform light physical work, frequently lifting up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifting up to 30 pounds without assistance in an indoor setting.
- Must be able to communicate effectively on the telephone and in person to provide information and assistance.
- Must be able to move throughout the building and from building to building.
- Must be able to reach in all directions and bend/stoop to store and retrieve files, use telephone, calculator, computer, and other office equipment.
- Must have dexterity and hand/eye coordination necessary to operate a computer keyboard, hand tools, test equipment, and other office equipment such as fax machines, printers, etc.
- Hearing activity requires the ability ti participate in numerous conversations throughout the day, both in person and over the telephone.
- Must be able to complete job duties in an environment where background noise and frequent interruptions are the norm.
- Must have the ability to maintain concentration and focus on tasks requiring timeliness and attention to detail.
