In 2021, EV battery startups raised more than $3.6B, triple the amount in 2020 and for 2027, the global EV battery market is estimated to reach $134.6 billion. Now is the time to be in this market as the demand for EVs increases, and so does government support.

Wenham Carter search firm is hiring on behalf of an exciting mobility company that is scaling their electric vehicle battery manufacturing operations in the US and are hiring for a Senior Safety Engineer to be a key member of the start-up team who are launching the plant from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Process Safety Management (PSM) program.
• Maintain safety documentation, conduct PHAs, PSSRs, and address safety issues via local procedures.
• Oversee mechanical integrity inspections and ensure effective MOC processes.
• Investigate incidents, track performance metrics, and drive improvements.
• Build regulatory relationships, coordinate audits, and provide emergency preparedness support.
• Train employees and leadership on process safety standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical, mechanical engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years of process safety experience in manufacturing, chemical, or refinery industries.
• Proficiency in OSHA PSM standards, strong analytical, and communication skills.
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or actively pursuing certification.
• Experience in lithium battery manufacturing or start-ups, with PHA facilitation, mechanical equipment expertise, and project management skills.
