Summary:

The System Safety Engineer performs RAMS deliverables including Functional Hazard Assessments, System Safety Assessments, preliminary System Assessments, Design Assessments, FMEA/FMECA, Aircraft level safety documents for Leonardo Helicopters US products.

Responsibilities:

• Create, evaluate and perform RAMS ( Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Safety) Deliverables including FHA, FMEA/FMECA, FTAs, CCAs, SSAs and DAs;
• Assure RAMS requirements integration into the overall design, development and certification process of the aircraft;
• Work with Systems Engineering group to identify and verify compliance with system safety requirements;
• Implement and maintain system safety process and deliver the required output data to the agreed schedule;
• Review system safety supplier documentation.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering required; Master’s degree preferred

Experience:

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar/contributing roles
• Knowledge about aviation technology.
• Experience in engineering design, integration, systems safety or project engineering;
• Experience in analysis of technical drawings, System Safety documents, RMDs, wiring diagrams;
• Experience in system safety reports: Functional Hazard Assessment (FHA), Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), System Safety Assessments (SSA) (including fault tree analysis, Particular Risk Analysis, Common Mode Analysis), preliminary System Safety Assessments (PSSA);
• Knowledge about FAA rules for system safety (XX,1309);
• Knowledge about MMEL procedure;
• Knowledge about SAE ARP 4761, SAE ARP 4754, SAE ARP 4754A.
